Welcome to Our Music Academy

From your first notes to advanced ensemble work, our music academy offers expert tuition and inspiring performance opportunities for young musicians of all levels. Whether you're learning an instrument, joining an orchestra, or exploring chamber music, our passionate tutors and supportive community will help you grow in confidence and skill. With regular concerts and a diverse range of ensembles, every student has the chance to shine. With our team of highly qualified and inspiring professional music teachers, we also offer ABRSM theory and Aural test preparation. All our teachers hold an advanced DBS certificate.

The Monday evening Academy is supported by our Hub partners SoundStorm and runs on a Monday evening.

Monday Night Sessions

Join us every Monday evening at Parkstone Grammar School for instrumental lessons, Junior Orchestral, Brass Ensembles, Music Theory and Aural test preparation. It's where young musicians come together to learn, play, and perform in a supportive and inspiring environment. You will soon be able to read here about some of our Music teachers.

Instrumental Lessons – Juniors & Seniors

We are all aware of the enormous benefits of music, singing or playing an instrument, whether you're just starting out or looking to refine advanced skills, our instrumental lesson programme offers expert tuition for students of all levels with end of term concerts including solo opportunities. We believe strongly in working towards excellence and finding the best progression route for all young musicians in a sensitive and nurturing environment.

Mezzo Maestros Junior Orchestra

Step into the world of orchestral music in a fun and supportive setting! The Mezzo Maestros Orchestra, is perfect for developing players who are ready to build ensemble skills, confidence, and musical expression.

  • Grades 2–5 (strings, wind, brass, and percussion)
  • 8 sessions per term, plus a final Week 9 concert
  • Led by the experienced and inspiring Polly Phillips
  • Explore exciting repertoire with friends and grow as a musician!

Jurassic Brass Ensembles

Unlock Your Potential with a Diverse Range of Repertoire, Expert Coaching, and Unforgettable Performances!

Whether you’re just starting out or advancing your brass skills, our Jurassic Brass Ensembles offer a unique opportunity to:

  • Build a broad and exciting repertoire spanning classical, contemporary, jazz, and popular styles
  • Develop strong technical skills and musical confidence under the expert guidance of directors Kevin Penfold and Robb Tooley (BSO trombone)
  • Perform regularly in dynamic concerts, including our highly anticipated Week 7 showcase—where your hard work shines on stage. Senior Jurassic Brass have also performed twice before BSO concerts during the last year.
  • Connect with fellow brass players in a supportive, inspiring community that pushes you to excel

Two Ensembles, Tailored to Your Level:

  • Junior Ensemble (Grades 1–3): Lay the foundations of brass mastery and ensemble playing with professional brass player and teacher, Kevin Penfold.
  • Senior Ensemble (Grades 4–8+): Challenge yourself with advanced repertoire and leadership opportunities with professional BSO trombonist and teacher, Robb Tooley.
